Mario E. Vazquez
Mario Vázquez is an environmental engineer with more than 40 years of experience, particularly in disciplines related to water and wastewater treatment, environmental impact assessment, risk assessment, safety and occupational health and feasibility analysis of renewable energy projects.
Currently, serves as Director of Technical Assistance of the North American Development Bank (NADB), where is responsible for the administration of the funds for technical assistance provided by the NADB and for the institutional programs of project assessment of air quality, municipal solid waste, municipal planning, renewable energy and green infrastructure sectors, regional planning, and environmental project management.
His assignments include, among others, the coordination of activities and contract administration of the Border 2020 program (with the US-Environmental Protection Agency), the development of regional plans for basic infrastructure and renewable energy, the coordination of the technical assistance provided by NADB, the integration of State inventories of greenhouse gases, development of State climate action plans, the econometric quantification of public policies options for the mitigation of greenhouse gases and the evaluation of the impact of infrastructure projects certified and funded by NADB on the Border communities.
He graduated in chemical engineering at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and has a master degree in energy management and renewable sources by the Tecnológico de Monterrey; he is a certified ISO9000 quality management systems lead auditor. Former President of the Juarez section and Deputy Director and Director of the Northwest Region of the Mexican Institute of Chemical Engineers (IMIQ).
