Candidates will be eligible for the Carlos Rincon Award depending on the efforts they have made to address air quality in the Basin according to the four principles outlined below:
Reduction: Direct or indirect reduction of Basin air pollution or pollutant emissions
Innovation: Creation or utilization of innovative strategies to improve air quality in the Basin.
Outreach: Outreach and/or education regarding air quality within the Basin.
Research: Ideas and projects that will expand the current knowledge and
understanding regarding air quality within the Basin.
Nomination and Selection Process
Any member of the public or voting member of the JAC can nominate individuals or organizations for the Carlos Rincon Award by submitting a completed nomination form to the federally appointed binational JAC liaisons. The nominations will then be shared with the National Co-Chairs of the JAC.
Nomination and Selection Timeline
The call for applications will open and close during the first and second JAC meetings of the calendar year, respectively.
All nominations will be submitted using a specially created form located on the JAC website.
Following the close of the second JAC meeting of the calendar year, the federally appointed JAC liaisons will then compile the list of nominees and share them with the National Co-Chairs.
The Carlos Rincon Award will be presented to the recipient during the third JAC meeting of the calendar year.
The timeline detailed above will not apply for the first iteration of the award, as the call for applications will open during the third session of the year.
